TxD Kera Sankara is a cross between West Coast Tall (WCT) of Kerala and Chowghat Orange Dwarf (COD). It’s a product of ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod, Kerala and released in 1991 for Karnataka, Kerala, Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh. It is ideal general purpose hybrid, suitable for both tender coconut and mature coconut. It is a early yielder-first flowering starts within 48 months after plantation. It produces upto 213 nuts per annum per tree. Color of coconut varies from light green to brownish, making it more attractive for commercial purpose. The tender coconut at 7 months contains 350-400 ml sweet coconut water. Kera Sankara is highly recommended for commercial farm in both west coast and east coast region.
