Tiptur Tall coconuts are famous for it’s size, taste and water content. It is highly demanding export quality coconut. Seed nuts are collected from at least 40 years old mother palm to produce seedlings. It is ideal general purpose cultivar, suitable for both tender coconut and mature coconut. It produces good quality copra ideal for oil industries. Flowering starts in between four to five years after plantation under good management. It produces upto 120 nuts per annum per tree. Color of coconut varies from green to brownish, making it more attractive for commercial purpose. The tender coconut at 7 months contains 350-500 ml sweet coconut water. Tiptur Tall cultivar is least maintained, more robust native crop. It attains a height of 40 feet to 50 feet over time. It is traditionally cultivated in commercial farms in many parts of Karnataka including Maddur, Hassan, Mandya, Mysore.
